Describe the issue

I use MacBook Air 2024 as my core and server, For many months it freezes for about a minute and says "connecting to server" then everything resets. It happens when I use my hardest in the NAS / or tidal steaming.I have no firewall, wifi is normal, I tried reinstalling and rebooting countless times. Roon has "launch on startup" turned on. I tired all your advices on the forum. It seems I am not the only one with this issue

Describe your network setup

I use TP link Deco mesh wifi routers.

Hi @Barnabe_Rocha ,

Thanks for reaching out with your message.

I’ve activated diagnostics mode for your account and looking over the log set, I do notice Roon crashing fairly often. It looks like it is crashing when it is trying to extract WAV files from /Users/barnabe/Library/Music/Unknown Artist/Unknown Album/.

Can you please try to temporarily disable this as a watched storage location in Roon Settings → Storage, and check to see if the crashes stop? I am not seeing the same files cause the crash, so it is possible that something else about the extraction process is triggering this issue.

It also looks like you have a fairly large library at 105k tracks, how much RAM do you have installed on your Roon Server machine?

I disabled the watches storage and went onto listening tidal
Same freeze happened after one track

and I have 8Gb memory

Hey @Barnabe_Rocha,

Thanks for the update - lets see if refreshing your Roon Server database may help -

Let’s try a fresh database and see if your issues persist:

  • Create a Backup of your current database
  • Exit out of Roon + RoonServer (from taskbar area)
  • Navigate to your Roon Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “Roon Server” and “Roon”
  • Rename the “RoonServer” folder to “RoonServer_old” and “Roon” to “Roon_old”
  • Reinstall the Roon App from our Downloads Page to generate a new Roon folder
  • Verify if the issue persists on a fresh database before restoring the backup

Here is the process outlined from a macOS machine:
