MacBook Air Roon local playback issues

This Mac:
Roon v. 1.2 Build 157 Stable (64 bit)
OSX 10.11.6
MacBook Air (13-inch, mid 2012)
Music is TIDAL only (no local source set up)
Overview says “2040 tracks”

RoonServer
Roon v. 1.2 (build 157) stable (64 bit)
Running on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (GNU/Linux 4.4.0-36-generic x86_64)

When I play back albums on my Mac in Roon:

I get intermittent pauses
After a few tracks the playback stops with transient popup message TIDAL: A networking or connectivity problem is interfering with TIDAL playback.

Sometimes it completely halts here - sometimes it will resume but it will jump down several tracks within the album.

This happens when I playback to Bluetooth speaker (Moto Stream device)

This also happens with I plug in my FiiO DAC (E17) and playback to the dac.

Have you tried playing Tidal without Roon.

I have tried TIDAL without roon on the Mac and a bunch of devices and it works.

My other devices connected to roon playback TIDAL content smoothly but the Mac doesn’t.

are you using wired or wifi and if wifi what type a/b/g/n/ac?

WiFi - N (because that’s the max capability of all my devices)

I think I’m ok to close this thread - seems to be mostly resolved.

Note: it got worse (dropped connections spread to iPad, phone, Squeezebox etc) which made me think it was server or network problem rather than something on this Mac.

I tried two things:

1.Checked memory usage - plenty of memory available to RoonServer.
Ran all the available updates on Ubuntu (RoonServer host OS) reluctantly because it had been working. Rebooted a few times.

  1. Rebooted every piece of network equipment (router, switches, modem, AP).

Roon control is no longer disconnecting, playback is stable on the devices around the house again.

Unfortunately I don’t know which it was (RoonServer or network) - but I suspect it was the network gear because nothing looked terrible on the server.

Thanks for the feedback I got - be well!
