Describe the issue

My RoonServer is a MacBook Air. I cannot access the Roon Server at all despite multiple attempts to troubleshoot and reboot. This problem began after the latest update.

Describe your network setup

MacBook Air 1.8 GHz Dual Core Intel i5, 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 memory, operating macOS Monterey, Version 12.7.6. Connected to network by Ethernet utilizing Ethernet over Powerline with Zyxel devices (please note that I also cannot connect using WiFi )

Hello @Stephen_Baker

This is a known problem and there is a fix waiting for you. Build 1680 of Roon 2.71 stopped Roon Server from starting on macOS 12 and 13, and your MacBook Air on Monterey 12.7.6 is squarely affected. That is why the server became unreachable straight after the update, and why nothing on the network side has made a difference.

It is tracked here: RoonServer 2.71 crashing on startup on Intel Mac Mini, hotfix released

The fix is a newer build, and you need to install it by hand, because the built-in updater cannot run while the server will not start:

  1. Download a fresh copy from
Download Roon - Mac, Windows, iOS & Android Apps | Free Download
    .
  2. Quit Roon completely, and check in Activity Monitor that no Roon processes remain.
  3. Open the downloaded disk image and drag Roon into your Applications folder, choosing Replace when asked.
  4. Eject the disk image, so the old copy cannot be opened by mistake.
  5. Open Roon from Applications.

This replaces the application only. Your database, library, playlists and settings are untouched.

Please let us know once it is running.

Followed instructions exactly but no improvement; still showing “Waiting for Roon Server…” message
