Describe your network setup

I recently bought a MacBook as replacement for my older PC. Roon was deauthorized as instructed, then it was installed on the MacBook. It worked until I restarted then it was no longer able to connect. I followed the troubleshooting instructions from Roon without success. Also I deinstalled Roon and did a reinstall. Nothing.

Hello @mtrusch,

Thank you for reaching out to Roon support. We’re glad to see you again!

After enabling diagnostics for your account, we can see that the Roon Server installed on the MacBook Air last appeared on the network 7 days ago, whereas the Windows device was last seen 16 hours ago. Could you please clarify whether the MacBook Air is a replacement or you have a different device?

Additionally, could you check if the Roon icon appears in the top-right toolbar on your MacBook? If so, please right-click the icon and ensure the following option is enabled:

Options → Open at Login

Let us know what you find, and we’ll be happy to assist further.

Kind regards,
Vadim

Thanks for the reply. The MacBook Air is a replacement, as I mentioned in the last email the installation on the Windows device was reauthorized. I did check if the Roon app would still open on Windows but it did not.

No icon on top right toolbar on the MacBook.

Thanks for the help

Hello @mtrusch

Please check if the Roon Server is in your startup list on the MacBook.
To do so go to >System Settings… «General» at the side bar and check if the RoonServer in the “Open at Login” list

Yes, it is on the Open at Login list

Hello @mtrusch ,
Thank you for checking that for us. I think the next step here is to take a look at the logs from your MacBook. Can you please use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader? Once logs have been uploaded, please let us know so that we can check the server for your files, thanks!

Good morning,
No folder named ´´Logs´´to be found on the MacBook.

Hi @mtrusch,

If you locate ‘Roon’ in your applications>right click>show package contents> are you able to double click Roon Server and open it that way?

Give it a few moments, and let me know if you see the Roon jellyfish on your Mac taskbar. :+1:

That worked, the ROON app opened and fish is there but now it can’t find my Bluesound Node streamer and BluOS…the output shows only System output and the MacBook OS…

Hello @mtrusch,

Can you please navigate to macOS System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network , and make sure Roon is allowed. If it is already enabled, toggle it off and on again. Then reboot your Mac, and see if the same issue persists.

Kind regards,
Vadim

Just did a restart, the BluOS is there and toggled Roon open at launch, now it all seems to work finally. Thanks a lot and have a nice holiday

Tom
