macOS 26.x Tahoe and 'No audio devices found' every now and then

Hi!

I’m running my third day of 14 days Roon trial. Looks almost good so far. Roon version 2.56 (build 1582) production.

Running Roon server on up2date Ubuntu Linux Server v 24.04.x. No problems with Linux setup.

Running Roon app on my MacBook (macOS 26.1 Tahoe) connected with USB cable (no hubs etc) to Rotel Michi P5 with integrated DAC. Other audio hardware includes 2 x Rotel Michi M8 and PMC BB5 SE speakers. Exclusive and integer modes are on and signal path is lossless. My Michi devices have the latest firmware installed.

First night of listening went almost without problems. Then I started get every now and then an error ‘No audio devices found’ followed by ‘Manage audio devices’. Playback stops to this error. It’s always related to sample rate change.

I’m playing mostly from Tidal, but have some local albums also. About 11500 albums and 90000 tracks on my Roon library.

When I click ‘Manage audio devices’ link, first I don’t see my Michi P5 device, but it comes back within a second or two. When P5 is back, I can start playing again.

As you might quess, I’m thinking should I join to early access program or not. Usually I never use anything else than latest stable production versions of any software.

So I’m asking for a confirmation that is this bug fixed in current early access version and also what might be the timeline to get the fix to the latest production release?

Many thanks!

It’s not difficult to switch to EA, you just reinstall with the EA installer (and later reinstall the production installer to switch back):

But if you don’t want to, you can use one of the other workarounds:

Hi!

Thanks againg for your reply!

My plan at the moment:

Today I’ll first test Roon Bridge on Raspberry Pi 4 running Ubuntu 24.04.x (latest).

I’ll attatch my raspberry with USB cable to my Michi P5. If it works well, I’ll just wait for this specific fix currently only in early access v 2.57 build 1584 to be included in production version.

If there’s any problems with Raspberry with Roon Bridge, I’ll join the early access program, and install the software needed. (everything already downloaded).

Let’s see first how Raspberry bridge works!

Many thanks!!!

I think this probably works because you won’t be using the Mac’s local CoreAudio interface. People who use Macs only for the remote control, but have a Linux, Windows, or Roon OS server don’t have this problem, either.

Hi!

Bridge is now running on Raspberry PI 4. It’s connected with USB to Rotel Michi P5.

Seems to work well !

But I’ll test more, and listen more, hoping no more problems.

Also waiting for the fix to this issue comes to production release.

PS.

My Tidal profile for anyone who’s interested: Skuolfi 🇯🇲 🇪🇹 on TIDAL

Ps. Ps. And maybe I’ll join the early access program later…

I’ve been using Roon over one month or so now.

Roon-Bridge works without any problems on Ubuntu 24.04.03 LTS / Raspberry Pi 4. Not a single problem with audio output.

Roon Server also works well on my old Dell PC with 32gb memory. It’s also Ubuntu 24.04.03 LTS.

iOS Roon app have some minor bugs, macOS app not so many. Synchronization between Tidal and Roon has minor problems but just minor.

Roon maybe should have more information about the albums and artists, now, in many cases, I have to check the info from Tidal iOS app or from elsewhere on the Internet. This maybe related to my favorite music gategory, Jamaican Reggae & Dancehall.

Overall experience with Roon has been very good, so I guess I’ll use Roon for a long time..

No fix for exclusive audio bug from Tidal macOS app yet. Looks like it’s not coming at all. Who knows, lets see…

Thank you & Merry Christmas !!

…and yes, I’ll guess I won’t switch back to macOS audio very soon. Linux is working well.
