I’ve already posted my frustration that Roon will keep playing songs even if the Roon app isn’t open due to the background process.
Just encountered a related problem. A song that I liked was playing and I wanted to identify it. I couldn’t figure out where it was coming from as all of my Music apps were closed. Remembering this issue I started the Roon app but it didn’t show any song playing.
Looked in the history and the song didn’t show there.
It was being played by the background app since it stopped playing when I killed it.
So is there a way to get the Roon app to update itself with what is playing in the background process?
That’s odd. Probably it isn’t odd because a track isn’t added to the History immediately but only after it plays a while, I think when it’s close to the end.
If you go to the Control Center settings, you can enable macOS’s own “Now Playing” control, which will show in the CC or optionally also in the macOS menu bar:
This will remain available after you close the Roon GUI window with the window’s close button, as long as you don’t quit it fully by going through the menu bar > Roon > Quit or right-click the icon on the Dock and Quit (but why would you).
Generally, why are you so intent on closing Roon when you use it? Just don’t and simply minimize/hide the window?

I can have 40 or more apps open at the same time. I close ones I’m not using such as Roon in order to make app management easier.
I spent an hour trying to find the track even resorting to ChatGPT but couldn’t find it. Luckily for some reason when started up Roon today it showed the track:

I love Edith Piafs’ original version and this is just as good but in a different way.
