Since both relevant streaming services have implemented a flag for AI-generated/augmented content it is a necessity to implement a “Roon awareness” and choice for the user to disable/dismiss or accept this type of content.
I am not sure how this might be used, if it is a binary switch or a scale, but i know i would simply deny all AI-generated content.
This is of course a difficult subject, but for starters, i’d like to be able to avoid all AI-content
Actually, it’s a deeper problem. I am reading a book called Mood Machine by Liz Pelly. Much of this AI “music” is being commissioned by streaming services (“Spotify for sure”) where the royalties flow back to them directly. How does that happen? Well , so many people are addicted to playlists or recommendations from algorithms that they are likely to get this music served to them (especially the Chill variety) and will unknowingly listen to it because they have chosen to become what is known as “lean back listeners”. Crazy world we live in…
I know, but Spotify’s flawed policies hardly concern us. Both Tidal and Qobuz now have policies that forbid monetization of AI slop, even if a user plays it. Of course, the challenge remains the recognition, but let’s assume it’s successful. In this case, the adoption of the Tidal/Qobuz tag in Roon would help people avoid it, but it doesn’t affect the monetization.
