Hello friends, last year I asked for help because I coud not connect Roon ARC on mobile data network in France. As port forwarding did not seem to work, I used Tailscale and everything was ok. But today, I discovered why port forwarding did not work. My internet provider is “FREE”. “FREE” is the NAME of the provider, which is a big problem when french people ask for help on the net when they have an issue with “FREE”, AI (I should say AS, Artificial Stupidity…) often believes they have a problem with a provider with no cost….![]()
My rooter is a FREEBOX mini 4k, maximum value for a port is 32767.
As the default port value for Roon ARC is 50000, port forwarding could not work with this value.
I suppose that the FREEBOX mini 4k is not the only rooter in the world with a port value limited to 32767.
Could you change the default port value for Roon ARC with a number < 32768 ?
I think it could avoid many issues!
Best regards,
Sylvain Renard
Typically ports between 32768 and 65535 are used to avoid conflict. However, changing the default port is possible, as you have discovered.
Whilst I’ve never had a router with this limitation, I imagine others do exist. Since your router model is relatively old and discontinued, and may no longer receive security updates, you may want to request a new model.
