Master tag in TIDAL client messed up right now

I play albums marked as master but only receive a HIFI version.

Being able to detect MASTER albums without playing them is a huge step forward but for it to work the M markings need to be accurate.

It’s certainly still a work in progress.

I’m a bit obsessive and have 1195 master albums according to roon.
The actual number is higher but duplicates does not contribute in roon.
Streaming masters increases the audience this kind of files normally get.
I don’t consider myself an audiophile and can’t say I even hear the difference most of the time.
Humans are pretty poor at remembering sound. We can easier remember how it felt when listening.

In my case I consider higher quality music to be more true to the recording but don’t try to get me to point out the difference.

I have a decent €500 surround system from Samsung which basically means 2.1 sound as the tallboy speakers can’t handle the low frequencies.

Recently bought an Meridian Explorer2 for MQA especially in roon.
A €50 sound cable followed but I have no immediate plans to replace the system.

I use TIDAL desktop for going through massive amounts of albums and if the M markings become slightly more accurate collecting master albums will be even more simple. Mixing roon and TIDAL in this fashion has worked pretty well so far.

I think I’m going to stop rambling just happy things are improving.

I take it your Explorer2 blue light plays into the identication process. I only moved around 130 Tidal Masters into a folder. I didn’t realize there were that many MQA titles available (1195).

Last time I looked at the google docs list of available Masters on Tidal there were nearly 4000.

Does anybody know if there is any good way to identify the Tidal Master albums in Roon?

Simple way, playback in roon and check the blue light of your MQA DAC.

Less simple is checking the signal path for 24bit streaming.

Old way in TIDAL, playback an album and look for MASTER which will arrive earlier than the start of the music so you can run through massive amounts of albums while actually playing none as the new album is triggered before the old album has time to start.

New way in TIDAL, just look for the M markers. Not 100% accurate but then not sure old TIDAL way was 100% accurate.

The only 100% accurate way is playback and checking the blue light on the DAC or check for 24bit playback in roon signal path.
