All albums in screencaps are from Qobuz. Qobuz metadata is correct. Where albums exist in Allmusic I could not find incorrect composer information, but there was also no composer data . . .
This appears to be a Roon issue.
Have you made any edits to this content in Roon?
No.
Is the album identified in Roon?
All screencaps are of albums displayed in Roon.
Is this content from local files, TIDAL, or Qobuz?
One oddity (well, something of even greater oddness) is this record appearing under Max Greger, but when you go to the album it has Max Reger credited, with no credit given to Max Greger. (Though I am new to all of this, so I will not be surprised if the Greger misattribution is in there somewhere),
Hi @Marcovaldo. I found one bad credit in MusicBrainz which may have been throwing us off. I’ve made a correction here, but it will take up to a week to be accepted into the MusicBrainz database.
Thanks for reporting. I’ll check back in once we’ve absorbed the fix.
I had not heard of MusicBrainz and was not aware of Gracenote’s history with CDDB. Ugh. Which makes me even more excited to become acquainted with MusicBrainz.
MusicBrainz is great for improving metadata in Roon, especially if you buy from independent artists on places like BandCamp, as almost all my unidentified albums were either old 80s vinyl or digital purchases from BandCamp.
I added pretty much all of it to MusicBrainz cutting original Bandcamp (and Discogs) links where appropriate.
The more people that get involved and add missing albums the better software like Roon, LMS and PlexAmp become as they all use the service.
I now use Picard to Scan every purchase I add to my Library and if it is not available I investigate and normally add them before syncing to Roon. Sometimes I have to wait 47-72 hours for the albums to be available in Roon to scan again, but I have had a 100% success rate after my initial additions were accepted.
Thank you for that, Michael. I am low on computer skills but ethic-wise you are speaking my language!
I love what Marston Records does (the classical music Marston Records) and I see that a goodly number of their releases are missing from MusicBrainz, so I will download Picard and have a go at filling those gaps.
Great to hear that, it’s mostly about getting the correct information and linking and making sure it is all correct in MusicBrainz. It is pretty much all done on the web site. Once you have done a few it is like second nature, and now I add 3 or 4 a month.
I have even introduced some bands to it who had no idea it existed.
Good luck with this, your Roon database will thank you and you will feel better about it as well
From what I am seeing the piano concerto album and the violin sonata album are correct now, but I am still seeing the same problem with the others.
But!
I assume it is possible that my library is slowly updating itself and the changes are in the pipeline, making their way to me?
And, in terms of these sorts of things, is it always helpful for us to bring up errors? Or is there a hierarchy of errors by priority that I could be pointed to?
Please feel free to bring up these issues. If they are easily fixable, we’ll fix them ASAP. If they point to something which is more systemic, having crisp examples is invaluable.
