Melco N100 can’t be discovered by ROON

Describe your network setup

ARRIS B373 modem / router / S100 switch / Mutec MC3

Hi @Morgan_Vallis,
Thanks for writing in to let us know about this issue. We need some more information to determine what’s going on.

  1. How is the Melco connected to your network? Is it direct to the router or through the switch you mentioned?
  2. Does the Melco show up in your Roon Audio settings?
  3. What happens when you try to play to the Melco?

I have the Ethernet from the Arris feeding into an ADOT Mc-01 and that goes into the switch than the Melco. Silly question but does this product require a computer as well to run it ? I only have the Melco. The Mac Mini is mid 2011 and ROON won’t install. I didn’t think it was mandatory. Anyway to get the Mac setup ?

@Morgan_Vallis, yes, Roon needs a computer (Windows, Mac, Linux, or a RoonOS Nucleus or ROCK) to run Roon Server, which provides the engine and control of your music library and streaming capabilities in your home:

Thank you. I have downloaded Roon Legacy 1.8 onto the Mac Mini and my iPad. I connected an Ethernet cable between the Mac and Melco S100. Last night I got the music to play. The N100 was discoverable on the iPad. This morning I came downstairs and it no longer shows as an output.

This isn’t the correct way to connect the devices. Both devices to an Ethernet connection to the same router or switch:

Switch ----> Mac Mini
       |
       |---> Melco

or

Router ----> Mac Mini
       |
       |---> Switch ----> Melco

I have set it up as per diagram and it now appears to be working. Thank you very much for the support.
