Merge albums not working

Roon Core Machine

Networking Gear & Setup Details

Mac Mini is hard wired via ethernet

Connected Audio Devices

Number of Tracks in Library

Library is about 11,000 tracks, 670 or so albums

Description of Issue

I try to merge these two shown in Album view in Roon

I select both of them and in the Merge screen it shows some duplicate tracks that I remove. The result should be one album with 10 tracks
Roon still shows two albums in Album view. I have tried this multiple times. I have even restarted my core and nothing works

I should have looked more carefully, Roon is showing 3 of these albums!!!

Am I better off just deleting it entirely and ripping it again?

Is the blue button in the lower right corner of the screen stating that you can merge 1 album with 10 tracks and do you use that button? (I also thought that the merge wasn’t working…)

Yes, after removing a few duplicate tracks this is what I see. Of course now I am doing this with 3 “Strange Days” albums shown in Roon

After I click the blue button, Roon still shows all 3 albums

how many and which songs are shown within these 3 albums?

Seeing some strangeness here. Just opened the first album and this is what I see. Notice there are tracks like People Are Strange that show 3 instances

I opened the 2nd album and it is perfect
I opened the 3rd album and more strangeness. Look at the performed by, it is incorrect

Perhaps the easiest solution is just to delete all 3 albums in Roon and just re-rip the CD
Thoughts?

Or copy the data to another (not Roon music store) location. Remove the albums from the Roon library (with files as asked) - clean the Roon library (via Settings - Library - Clean Library) and then move the data back onto the music store location and force a rescan (Settings - Storage - rescan)

That solution worked, I now have only one Strange Days album
I have few others like this and I will use the same method
Thanks

I think merge is just broken, your solution works great
Perhaps Roon will fix merge in the future

it works OK here, just merged an album with songs with mixed track formats. Could be your metadata, related to iTunes, not sure about that though; great that you sorted it out for now.

Does Roon even interact with Apple Music metadata?

yes, Roon uses the metadata if the specific information is not available in the Roon database. You can see which data is used in the metadata and edit sections of each album.
