· I have a system with 12 Meridian Roon Ready endpoints - the user reports that while listening to audio a zone(s) will just drop from the Roon app, then reappear on their own. Reviewing our network monitor indicates the Meridians were alive on the network at this time.
I attempted to retrieve logs - but am not able to access the folder via a Windows PC on-site for some reason.
I need assistance retrieving logs (already followed all guides her) and then resolving my playback issue

Thanks for reaching out. Is the system registered to your email address, or to a different email? What is the Roon Server that the client has, is it a Nucleus? If the Server is registered to a different email address, please let us know the email address by clicking my name here on the forum → message, and write the email there as a private message (please do not post email in public). You can use these instructions to access logs, but if it is a Nucleus/ROCK unit as the Server and you are using Windows, you may need to check your guest login SMB settings:
The smb instructions link you provided were helpful, I needed to follow the powershell steps and input the commands vs using policy editor. I got that sorted and i’ve uploaded the logs tagged with my account email as well as the email of the actual user.
This is a Nucleus+. I’ve sent you the registered user directly as requested.
The user provided an additional timestamp from 1/6/25 around 4:45pm system time.
“Roon dropped and needing rebooting”
Thanks for sending those over! From the Nucleus logs, we see repeated connection failures between remotes quite often, along with the potential for devices to be spread across multiple local subnets within the users network, which won’t work in Roon.
All Roon devices need to be on the same network in order for proper functionality.
I’d first test out simplfying the network setup, and get the Nucleus as well as a few of the issue meridian devices to be hardwired via ethernet directly to their primary router, bypassing all other network gear.
Then, attempt to reproduce the issue and share the track name of when the stoppages occur.
All of the roon/meridian devices are on the same subnet. Its a large subnet that spans from 10.1 - 11.255, but they’re all on the same VLAN and subnet.
The remotes are typically WiFi devices, like ipads or iphones. Would those disconnecting from WiFi/going to sleep account for the log entries you’re referencing?
How would the remotes disconnecting cause hardwired endpoints to stop playback?
Is there anything in logs that specifies what the connection failure is? What port/protocol/service etc?
I’ve already requested an unmanaged switch be brought to site. I will move all Roon and meridian devices to that switch then report back. It would be helpful if you could share what specifically in logs suggest the managed switch should be bypassed. IGMP is configured correctly and I have flow control enabled as suggested.
Thanks for the follow-up and additional information! I realized you mentioned “the user” - are you a dealer? In the future, you can reach out to our dedicated dealer support channel : dealersupport@roonlabs.com
You’re correct there - no, Roon remotes are control points only. Audio streams run directly between Roon Server and the Meridian endpoints.
That said, being “alive on the network” does not necessarily mean the RAAT session is healthy. Let us know how things go when testing the unmanaged switch, and if playback is still unreliable, please share the name of the track when issues arose.
We’ll be on standby for your reply and results, thank you!
We haven’t seen a response in some time and we wanted to reach out to see if there was any additional troubleshooting or support we could provide.
This thread will automatically close in another day without any new responses from the OP. If you’ve migrated the conversation to our dealer support portal, we’ll respond promptly there. Otherwise, we’ll keep a lookout for your response here. Thank you!
I’m not certain that we’re dealers. I’ll check with some others in the company, but I don’t think we are.
I have someone on-site currently putting in an unmanaged switch.
The new topology will be Watchguard M270 firewall > unmanaged switch > All Meridian 218/251 + Roon Nucleus.
I misspoke originally in saying this is Roon Ready, these are Meridian 251 and 218 so it’s actually Roon tested/Sooloos. The Meridians are and have been running the latest firmware.
Thanks for the update. Once the unmanaged switch is in place, please let us know whether the issue persists or if playback remains stable. That will help us determine the next steps, if any.
The Watchguard M270 firewall is likely still positioned to interfere with Roon’s network discovery in this configuration, and could potentially block/filter some upstream services.
Can you please provide an approximate timestamp of the last time one of these two Zones (251 or 218) disappeared? We’d like to pinpoint the event in logs, if possible.
The user will need to follow these instructions to access logs, zip them up, and upload them to our server:
Thank you for the additional follow-up. I haven’t heard from the end-user since installing the unmanaged switch - which typically means no issues present/the issue has not returned.
We have another visit planned in the next couple of weeks for some other work so I will check in there then update/reopen this thread at that time if needed. Thanks!
