Describe the issue

After installing a Wi-Fi extender--now removed--Adding Music to Library stalled and Metadata Improver paused. Roon Core is on a sonicTransporter.

I have deleted/reinstalled Remote; rebooted the Core; rebooted the router; restarted the Windows 10 laptop that holds Remote.
I followed the instructions in this form but the problem persists. Thanks for your help.

Describe your network setup

Verizon G3100 router; ethernet cable to sonicTransporter; Roon Remote on Wi-fi connected Windows 10 laptop.

Have you tried restarting the network AND the sserver, the metadata error happens when at start up Roon can’t find the internet, a reboot normally fixes it

Shutdown, wait a minute, restart network wait until Internet connection light is on then restart server

Worth a try

Thanks, Mike; will try that next.

No, that didn’t work. Thanks again.

Hey @David_Bollinger,

Thanks for sharing your update - sorry to hear you’re still running into issues!

We were able to review a fresh diagnostic report, and see a few network-related errors that are likely causing you your issues, for example:

Critical: Exception in _TcpClientConnectCallback: System.Net.Sockets.SocketException (101): Network is unreachable

When you access your router settings, are you able to see your Sonic Transport with a dedicated IP? Are you able to access the webUI of your ST?

To confirm, have you rebooted your router as well? It may be worth giving this a second try just in case. Let us know your results! :+1:

Hi Ben,
To your questions: yes; yes; yes, rebooted router several times. Here are shots from router.

Ben,
Just rebooted the router, but no change. Thx.

From Sonicorbiter:

Hi @David_Bollinger,

RoonServer (on the SonicOrbiter) is being denied access to the metadata due to account authorization issues - taking a closer look, it appears there’s an active RoonServer instance on your Windows laptop that is currently signed into your Roon account.

I recommend taking the following steps here:

  1. If you don’t need the server on the laptop, then verify that you have a Backup of your Roon library (on either machine) and delete the RoonServer folder hosting the database from Windows.
  2. Exit out of RoonServer and Roon on the laptop
  3. Sign out of your Roon account in a browser on the laptop by visiting the Roon accounts page
  4. Power down the SonicOrbiter
  5. Navigate to your RoonServer’s Database Location
  6. Find the folder that says “RoonServer”
  7. Rename the “RoonServer” folder to “RoonServer_old” or delete it
  8. Next, power on the Sonicorbiter.
  9. Open Roon on your laptop again, sign in if prompted, and connect to the server on the SonicOrbiter.

Let us know if these steps are successful or if you’re stuck at any point. We’ll watch for your response.

Thanks, Connor. I have some questions:

Do you mean a backup in Backup Manager? I have them.

How/where is this done?

Are the highlighted folders ones to keep? I deleted Roon Server folder.

Stop the presses! Eureka! The little spinning purple arc is gone.
Grazie mille, Connor.
I learned some things too.
