· The Nucleus boots up and I can connect to it in the Roon app without issue, but I have a question about configuration/storage/attached devices
Describe the issue
After installing an internal ssd the metadata improver is paused message saying trouble verifying the connection.roon library & Qobuz is working correctly. Unable to use the search function
Thanks, and that is a helpful picture. Two things from our side first.
We enabled diagnostics on your account so your Nucleus would send us a log automatically, and it has not arrived. We tried again, and we tested the same thing from our own setup here, which worked. So the failure is specific to your Nucleus.
That is worth knowing, because it is the same shape as everything else you are seeing. Your metadata improver cannot verify its connection, your Qobuz login returns a network error, search does not work, and now your Nucleus cannot send us a file. All four are your Nucleus failing to reach our servers, while your music and your library are fine. Something between that unit and the internet is being blocked or misdirected.
Good move plugging it straight into the router. Please tell us whether anything changed while it was connected that way. If it did not, please also try a different port on the router, and tell us which ports you have tried.
On the DNS suggestion you were wary of: you were right not to start changing router settings blind. There may be a simpler route. Please open your Nucleus web administration page in Safari on your iPad and send us a screenshot of the whole page, including the network section. If there is a setting we can change there, we will tell you exactly what to type, and you will not have to touch the router at all.
And we still need a log. You mentioned you have no computer, only the iPad, but this is doable from the iPad because your Nucleus shares its files over the network.
Open the Files app.
Tap Browse, then the three dots at the top right, then Connect to Server.
Enter smb:// followed by your Nucleus’s IP address, and connect as a Guest.
Open the Data folder, then RoonServer, then Logs.
Press and hold the Logs folder, choose Compress, and upload the resulting zip file.
The instructions are also written up here:
And please upload to this link, then tell us once it is done:
Hi again, thanks for the info. I have sent the log as requested except there aren’t the 3 dots to compress the file.attached is the image of system status as of about an hour ago
You appear to have set up a Static IP address on your Nucleus One - and you have set the Gateway address to be the same as the IP address of the Nucleus One. This is an error - the Gateway address is usually the router’s IP address.
Is there some reason why you are setting a Static IP address on the Nucleus One? Best practice is to use DHCP and set an address reservation for your Nucleus One in the router, so that it always gets the same IP address.
Firstly thanks v much for the quick reply. Much appreciated.
To my knowledge, I’ve not set up anything as far as IP Adresses & gateway addresses. All this stuff is beyond my skill level in the same way my knowledge of DNS configuration is.
So if something is wrong there I have no idea why or how to remedy it… Yea I’m a bit of a computer numpty! Any guidance on how to correctly set it up would be appreciated.
Well, your first screenshot of the Nucleus Web Administration Interface posted 2 days ago showed the network set to use DHCP, and yet your screenshot yesterday shows it changed to use a Static address…
I’m just a volunteer moderator around here, I’ll let the tech support team take up the reins…
All I really want is to get it back to how it should be again so it’s running correctly.
I could toggle it back to dhcp if that’s all it takes, but again, don’t want to start fiddling around with stuff I don’t understand. But hopefully it would be that easy!
As you suggest, I’ll wait for a reply from tech support before doing anything.
I don’t know if it will help, but as it stands it will never work correctly, so please do this now so it’s back on DHCP.
Afterwards reboot your network router, wait 5 mins (for it re-establish an internet connection) and then reboot the Nucleus. Once back, reconnect and post another screenshot of that page.
If nothing else, it saves time when Roon @support respond.
Whoops! Don’t think I clicked “save” after clicking on dchp.
To be fair, the difference between the dark grey button & lighter grey to show which one is selected isn’t immediately obvious to a numpty like me. Maybe green & red would be more obvious?
