MetaData Scrubbing

If you elect to have Roon import and organize your files in a Roon music folder, does your metadata get scrubbed and improved while importing? This would be excellent and helpful.

Hi @aarongutin

Sorry – was going to respond to you today

We willl rename the file and move it to the appropriate directory (Artist/Album/# Track Title) but we don’t touch the tags in the file themselves. We’ve considered it, but it’s a little dangerous – if we get the wrong ID, the file becomes completely unrecognizable.

If you want to “print” Roon metadata to your tags, the only way to do that right now is to make a 2nd copy of your collection using the Export feature.

@mike - Smart thinking. I think that print feature is an advanced one but definitely a power user feature!

Icing on the cake is that Roon keeps the original file too!

[/quote]Isn’t that called having a backup of the file before setting Roon on to them?

Sorry I wrote that poorly… Roon keeps the original file format ecoding and prints on the better metadata…

And you should back up data, always.
