Does anyone have the Meze 109 pros. I love my 99 Classics and looking for an upgrade. How do they perform, all reviews seem to rave about them.

I have had the Meze 109Pros for about 2 months now. I really enjoy them. Physically, they are very, very comfortable. Sonically, they are one of the best dynamic sets I own. Easy to drive, off many different amps, from tube to solid state and even a few mobile DAPs and phones. If you want to compare them to a few other classics, like the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x, which has always been a very neutral and more analytical set, the 109Pros are a touch warmer, and more resolving. The open grill makes them more enjoyable, either quiet or rocking. I am more sensitive to pressure, so I do tend to prefer open back styles. I also thought it was interesting the vast difference between using a balanced vs single ended setup. Not sure whay there is such a drastic difference, but I’m glad it’s there, since I usually use 4.4mm balanced and it sounds incredible.

Thanks for that sounds up my street.

Hey @Simon_Arnold3! The Meze 109 PRO is a wonderful headphone in my opinion. Here’s my review of it for the Roon Store, if you’re interested. Feel free to send me any questions you may have about them!

I received my meze 109 Pro earlier this week and I’ve just been burning them in at the moment.

I have two other headphones in my collection plus a number of IEM’S. The headphones are the HiFiMAN and the AudioQuest nighthawks.

I’ve not had the opportunity to do a comparison yet. The audio is absolutely delightful across the frequency spectrum. The bass is nicely controlled and not as overpowering as the Nighthawks. The mids are amazing and I can hear far more higher frequencies compared to my other headphones. Perhaps I would reduce slightly using eq on dacs the cord mojo2/ rme adi-2 dac fs. The soundstage is wide and open as you would expect from open back headphones.

These headphones are far sensitive to the audio noise which can be present in the recording compared the other 2 headphones. I could hear some hiss and static and I will need to investigate this further.

These headphones are extremely comfortable less sweat build compared to the HiFiMAN headphones. I will need to purchase a newer stand with a wider supporting section which is need to support curved metallic supports.

Overall amazing value for the money.
