· Currently running Roon ROCK on NUC8i7BEH with 4TB internal SSD for music storage. For energy and thermal reasons, I want to migrate to a NUC8i5BEHS that has a lower thermal envelope. I want to use THE SAME 4TB SSD in the new NUC8i5

Is there ANY procedure to physically move the 4TB internal storage drive from the old NUC to the new NUC with the music intact (i.e. without formatting)? I just completed the installation of RoonOS onto the NUC8i5 WITHOUT a second SSD (for music storage).

You can just put the disk into the new NUC and that’s it. The formatting is a manual process by clicking the Format button in the web UI - simply don’t.

I suppose I can use the RESTORE BACKUP feature when logging on the first time with the drive already fitted into the new NUC?

Suedkiez has that right, moving the drive over without formatting is all you need for the music files themselves.

For your database, that is, your playlists, tags, edits, and other library settings, yes: Restore Backup is exactly the right tool. Since you already installed a fresh RoonOS on the NUC8i5 without a second SSD, that install has no library data yet, so restoring a backup from the old NUC is how you’d bring all of that back.

Once the backup is restored and the 4TB SSD is in place, the watched folder should reconnect to the same path automatically since it’s the same physical drive, so you shouldn’t need to re-add or re-edit the storage location.
