I’m having an issue with the library indicator (the small icon with 3 vertical lines) on albums I’ve added to my library from Qobuz…the icon no displays shows when I view those albums in Qobuz.
I can add a Qobuz album to my library by selecting the “+” button, and it does get added. However, when I navigate back to Qobuz the album does not display the library icon. In addition, the “+” sign to add the album to my library is still present…previously, once an album was added to my library the “+” sign would no longer be displayed.
Disclaimer: I replaced my external storage drive around the time I noticed this issue but I can’t say “exactly” the same time. Since the drive only stores physical media I’m not sure why this would be a factor. The issue affects albums added to my library prior to replacing the external derive and well as albums added since.
Screen shots below showing how an album (Opus) is added to my library, the missing library indicator, and the “+” symbol still present after adding the album.
How are you navigating to the album, is it always through the Qobuz album view? If so, you are navigating to the public (non-library version) of the album. If you navigate to the album via Roon → Albums view, does it show as being in your library? You can find more information on this in our knowledge base here:
When I use the left main menu and navigate to “Home”, the added album displays under “Recently Added” along with the Qobuz indicator.
Of course, when I use the left main menu and navigate to “My Library/Albums”, the album displays there as well, along with the Qobuz indicator.
The issue is that when I navigate to Qobuz using the left main menu, albums that I’ve previously added to my library do not display the library icon and the “+” sign to add the album to my library is still present, even though the album is already in my library.
Maybe you can try adding a Qobuz album to. your own library to see if behavior is the same?
I don’t know that the “In library” icon has ever showed up on albums in the main Qobuz pages, and it certainly doesn’t show up in the “My Library” Albums browser, because it is redundant there.
You can always see what Qobuz albums you have added to your library by going to the “Favorite albums” section of “My Qobuz” tab in Roon’s Qobuz page, because albums favorited in Qobuz are added to your library by default.
Alternatively, use Focus > Storage Locations > Qobuz Library in the “My Library” Album browser.
The only place I know of where this icon is used is in an artist’s discography, e.g.:
That’s because you are looking directly at the main Qobuz catalogue - the catalogue that is seen by everybody. Qobuz doesn’t distinguish here whether you have already added the album to your library or not, but it will tell you (on a separate tab - My Qobuz) what albums you have favorited, and therefore have added to your library…
Thanks Geoff, but your explanation is not the behavior I’ve been experiencing.
If it was, why (or where) have I seen an album with both the Qobuz and the library indicators?
Where else would I see an album cover image with the library indicator, even if not in Qobuz?
Why would the library indicator even exist if it wasn’t to differentiate items I’ve added to my library from the general pool? Obviously if I’m in my library (from the main menu), there’s no need for an indicator.
Why does the “+” indicator still show for albums that Ive already added to my library?…this is certainly not what occurred in the past and the Roon guide shows that the “+” goes away after adding the album to my library.
You see the + when you look at an album in Qobuz’s catalogue. You won’t see the + when you look at the album when added to your library - these are two separate instances of the album.
See below from official Roon documentation. It doesn’t specifically relate to Qobuz, but an album would need to be added from some source, otherwise by default it’s already in your library.
The instruction shows that once the album is added, the “+” sign is no longer visible. The view without the plus sign is some general display (like Qobuz)…it’s not a library or discography view.
Adding an album to your Roon library
When you navigate to an album that you don’t have in your library, you can select the + button, which will create a copy of that album in your Roon library.
You’ll see the page update to reflect newly available options once it’s been added to your library.
Yes, we know all this. But you said that when you looked at the album in the Qobuz catalogue it still had the + symbol after you had added the album to your library, and this is also to be expected. I don’t understand what you are seeing as the problem…
Apologies…I guess I must be imagining things. I would have wagered good money that the general Qobuz view showed the library indicator. I must have been focused on the discography view without realizing it.
