Missing new features in ARC after sideloading APK (ref#YC545C)

Describe the issue

Due to an issue reported in Aug 2024 I side loaded and ARC apk. I am now noticing that my ARC does not have new features like " listen later" . Should I delete this ARC and download a new one from the app store, or load another APK?

If you sideload an APK, this turns off automatic updates from the Play Store (quite obviously). You have to either install updates manually, as well, or uninstall the APK and install from the Play Store.

Thanks! I thought that, but was looking for some guidance as to whether the issue had been fixed, and if not where to get the latest APK, and whether it had the new features.

If you prefer installing the APKs, the latest one is always linked from the downloads page:

https://roon.app/en/downloads

Scroll down to All Downloads, then Roon Remote, then click the APK option:

I tried deleting ARC and installing from the app store. Still had the same problem of freezing on launch screen. I then deleted that one and loaded APK version. That worked and had the new features I was looking for.

My preference would be to have updates available from the app store. I wonder why this S/W version is not available through the play store?

The latest release is always available through the Play Store, 2.47 (build 1510) at this time:

Hi @Mark_Pocock,
I’m glad that the APK worked for you. We can try to troubleshoot the app store version as that should work too. From what you describe it sounds like the failure is happening during the login process. Does a web browser window ever open when you try to log in? If not a pop-up blocker or another kind of content blocker may be at play. Do you have anything like that on your phone’s default browser?
