Description of Issue
I recently had a hard drive failure. Fortunately, my IT support person managed to reinstall my CD collection from a saved folder to the new hard drive and I can see this collection. I can also see all the album favourites saved in Tidal too however I cannot find a large playlist I created which holds all my favourite tracks from the past year. I thought this playlist would be saved to my profile in the cloud and don’t understand why I can no longer see it.
There is no saving in the cloud. Your local files will have been rediscovered by the apparently new Roon installation. Tidal favorites are automatically synced back from Tidal into a new Roon installation, if it is connected to the same Tidal account as the old Roon installation.
Everything else, like Roon playlists or any other personal data in Roon, like tags, edited credits, etc., must be backed up and restored locally. So if you never created a Roon database backup, this is now gone.
When reinstalling Roon, you have the option to restore that backup
