More Channel Layouts Please (7.1.4, 9.1.6, etc...)

Would really love additional channel layouts such as 7.1.4 and 9.1.6. This content is downloadable from more labels now, and of course on blu-ray for ripping. I have a 250 albums stored as 7.1.4 twelve channel WAV files and I can’t use them with Roon, so I rarely use Roon anymore.

Would love to see this added though and would probably start using it again if I could play all my music.

Just figured I’d circle back to this one. Every week we get more recordings released with more than 8 channels. Some are just straight up 10 or 12 channel WAV files that require zero decoding.

Would be nice to have Roon as an option for these.

I’d be delighted to play my 7.1.4 and 5.1.4 wav files in Roon instead of having to use Audirana. Or VOX, which is free and remarkably able to do what Roon cannot.

JRiver also has a 7.1.4 option now, so audio routes perfectly when playing everything from two to twelve channels.

Just being a pest on this one. Apple natively supports channel layouts over 8, and JRiver offers 7.1.4 and 5.1.4 layouts and up to 32+ channels.

I wish I knew why Roon has elected not to support additional channels. If there’s a showstopper, at least I could stop spending time asking for the feature.

The thing is, we have legal content being released in 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, and 16 channels as straight PCM WAV files, that need no decoding. Adding support for these shouldn’t even ruffle feathers of anyone thinking something nefarious is going on. Heck, we don’t even need to rip a blu-ray for a lot of this content, it’s sold as straight up WAV files with more than 8 channels.
