Is it possible to create two profiles and one is listening in android auto and the other at home at the same time?
Hello and welcome to the community. Yes, this is perfectly possible. It is also possible to play multiple streams to Roon Zones simultaneously using one profile.
So if I have two profiles on roon one, two or even more can listen on different devices at the same time when it is your own music at the qnap server.
Guess it does not work with tidal.
Every profile has the own ratings for songs, I guess?
What is the different between Plex and plexamp?
It does work with Tidal - when it is integrated into Roon. You can have multiple simultaneous streams via Roon.
More on Profiles here:
Because it is one tidal account, daily discovery and things like that do not work correctly because every profile has a different music taste. Let’s say one is classic and the other rock, but Roon has something like this as well, I think. Can every Roon Profile have its own LastFM account connected?
Do you know what Plex, Plexamp is, and can you tell me the differents between them and roon?
No it’s not possible due to the limitations on Family accounts and the API from Tidal or Qobuz. Only one streaming account can be linked to one Roon account at any one time.
Plex manages it only if each user has their own separate Plex account and the main server owner shares the server with each of them so then can access the local library . This way each user has their own Tidal account linked to their own Plex account.
If there is only one Plex account and users are party of Plex Home on the server, then only the main account can have a Tidal account tied to it which is the same as Roon and this can’t be shared with other user profiles only the main account holder account can use it. So is actually limited compared to Roon.
Not sure about Last FM but profiles in Roon are purely for history of what’s played really and not much else. Favourites in streaming are the same, playlists can be siloed for each user as well. But they all see the same sources if they play from Tidal it affects your play history on Tidal. I think the recommendations for new releases might be different per profile but not sure, my other half seems to use mine annoyingly so may playhodtoty is a bit off.
You can play to as many devices from Roon there is no limitations here. You can play to many simultaneously by each profile or one profile can play to all of them. Each profile can control all the same zones.
Yeah, but that’s not what you were asking. Your original question was “one is listening in android auto and the other at home at the same time?” and the answer to that is yes.
I can test roon or 2 weeks.
830 for lifetime is not cheap but hope it is worth the money
You can also continue with a monthly subscription if you are not sure after 2 weeks, before you pay for lifetime
I think it is great, but 830 dollars is too much for me.
Is there one day, an offer where you get 50% off?
I know I can, could pay monthly, but at the end of the day it is more expensive…
If you are sure you want to stick with it and believe that Roon will survive another 6 years or so, then yes, monthly is more expensive. I paid for lifetime after two days or so, but it was cheaper then. I just meant that if you are unsure after two weeks, you can extend by a month or so until you are sure.
I don’t think there ever was a 50% offer nor will there be, as Roon has been on record many times to say that they prefer the steady income from subscriptions, and in fact the lifetime option may go away in the future.
I’ve been using Roon since 2017 and can’t remember them ever offering a discount.
