Moving from a pc to Mac but leaving Roon core on nas

Moving from PC to a Mac. Roon core is on a NAS and will stay there. Followed the instructions to backup but when did so got an error that I was logged in to another core. Nowhere in the instructions was this clear. I logged out and still getting the message to unauthorized the core. Don’t know what to do next. Tried to copy the page for your edification.

thanks,

Hit unauthorized and what core options are you presented with?

If you’re not installing another Roon core, you’re not moving anything. You’re simply adding another Roon control device. You can have multiple Roon control devices. You don’t need to backup or restore anything. Your Roon control devices are just a window into your Roon core.

@Jim_F is right. If you’re running your core on your NAS you just need to click on “Oops, I meant to run as a remote control”. Once you do you should be good to go.

Hi @Mario_Acquesta,

Were you able to resolve this issue with the above suggestions? If not, you can always refresh your Roon database and start again before restoring a Backup:

  • Stop RoonServer from running in ROCK’s WebUI
  • Navigate to your ROCK’s Database Location
  • Find the folder that says “RoonServer”
  • Rename the “RoonServer” folder to “RoonServer_old”
  • Restart the RoonServer in the WebUI to generate a new Roon database folder
  • On the Roon Remotes, press “Use another Core” and connect to the new database
