I really appreciate the stronger playlist integration between Roon and Tidal, that is much appreciated and perhaps not recognized enough, a big feature for me.
I am MOVEing some playlists from Roon to Tidal. The Roon playlists are 100% Tidal songs (no local). When I move, Roon says “5 songs not found, copying instead”. None of the songs have an error message or are not found in the list, but somehow Roon can’t find songs when it has “pointers” to ALL of these songs. It’s like it is doing a name matching vs positively using an identifier of the songs.
Can anyone help me understand why this is happening?
(Note: i think this feature request is fulfilled, right?)
Okay, figured it out. Tidal updates song titles of existing albums. Roon must have a refresh that only happens when a song is played.
I took the playlists in question (actually shorter ones) and I played each and every song. Some had “improve quality” matches and i did that too.
But when I played some songs, the titles changed. For example, David Bowie’s “Rebel Rebel” becaome “Rebel Rebel (2016 Remaster)”. the song title updated as soon as the song started playing. Once I went through the whole list and saw a few more update titles like that, the MOVE playlist worked without missing any tracks.
So I am guessing that when Roon MOVEs a playlist to Tidal, it is matching by Artist, Track Name, and Album and not by some internal identifier.
