While we are discussing ringing, here’s another manufacturer’s opinion regarding Linear vs Minimum phase (which affects the ringing):

Minimum Phase being the default for Roon must also imply something:

> Hi everyone! A new release of Roon, Roon Server, and Roon Bridge is now rolling out to all platforms. The release includes some new DSP functionality, as well as a number of bug fixes and performance improvements, all of which is detailed below. New DSP Functionality The DSP functionality we are releasing today closes up a lot of loose ends that didn’t quite make it into 1.3, and also addresses some feedback that we’ve received since. Support for DSD512 and 768kHz output for devices that su…

It’s also interesting to count the votes for Linear and Minimum phase in this thread:

I would try targeting their highest supported rate first. 44.1 multiples only atm 7th order is empirically more processor intensive than 5th order. It does more arithmetic operations per sample. It’s technically more accurate, and has a lower noise floor. That said, most of the CPU load involved in DSD upsampling is not in the SDM–it’s in the PCM-domain upsampling stage …
