Most (but not all) tracks in one of the albums I’ve downloaded recently is identified as MQA (erroneously as I understand).
Interestingly, Roon states that the track is 44kHz MQA (no enhancement compared to the originally anticipated sample rate), but when content is played back, the signal path display states it’s unfolded to 88kHz. Which is quite confusing.
This is how MQA decoding works - MQA Core decoding (first unfold) always yields 88.2kHz or 96kHz without exception. It is normal even though it is confusing. The 44.1kHz MQA rate refers to the master, not how it is played back.
