Multi (and 'box') disc sets - again, please

This may have to do with the difference(s) between Classical music (where Composer is usually the prime determiner at top level) and the rest?

With respect, Matt - why not organize music in the way Roon’s designers recommend and thus avoid disappointment?

I can think of many times when I might rather do something differently. But when I’m using a piece of software like Roon, which is now essential to my experience of recorded music, and which I want to be able to rely on for the foreseeable future as the prime vehicle for listening, I guess I find it best to fall in with the way it’s meant to work

“Garbage” is related to something like “Miles Davis - The Complete Columbia Album Collection CD1”, having the CD number in the album/collection title, as folder and/or album title tag . That’s exactly what roon says likely doesn’t work. So, everything’s fine :slightly_smiling_face:

My apologies; I see. Yes, that would certainly not be good practice!

You see there’s much freedom in organizing folder structure. But keep an eye on proper tagging

Would be nice if Roon could show the album art for the box set, and then also for the albums contained within the set.

I’m pretty sure there’s no common concept for a dedicated box cover or box meta data at all in regular tagging or in roon. Boxed CDs are grouped by the CD number and album related tags.
What you can do is tagging single track files with multiple covers. And these can be shown in roon up to a certain degree. But those are not associated to a certain hierarchy, IMHO.

The pending Box Set development as per the recent announcement may make changes a bit premature

We know nothing anout what Roon intends so massive change now may require rework later

Who knows
