Multi-room audio clarification questions

I’d like to be able to play the same audio, at the same time, to more than out Roon endpoint from a single control point (iPad). The end-points will be networked devices but different types; i.e., HiFi Berry, Aries and Roon Enabled Speakers. Is this possible and, if so, then how is it achieved?

Hi Andrew,

Check out the following information on Zones and, in particular, Zone Grouping.

Thanks. So, basically, it’s not possible to group and play at the same time RAAT enabled speakers (for main room) and Hi-Fi Berry Pi (for outdoor patio)?

Er, yes, it IS possible to group and play at the same time RAAT enabled speakers (for main room) and Hi-Fi Berry Pi (for outdoor patio) - since the HiFiBerry/RPi will be running Roon Bridge (the implementation of the RAAT protocol)…

Note - you can’t group a non-RAAT device, e.g. AirPlay, with a RAAT device. That’s the only restriction with grouping.

Ok - thanks - clearly I didn’t get the deal. What about an Auralic Aries? Does this run RAAT or another protocol?

It’s a Roon Ready device - so yes, it understands RAAT. Auralic is a Roon Partner.
