NB : I post this issue again (after my similar post a few days ago). Contrary to the assertion of the “volunteer moderator” (tagged “leader” and “empathetic” ) who is probably happy having contributed to close a topic, this issue is not related to unidentified albums. Any album (identified/unidentified) is concerned.
As as classical music listener, I have multiple versions of one same work.
See below for instance with this “Chopin Concerto No. 1” release. I will name it “the initial work”. Here, three different versions are detected by Roon :
When I follow the link in the red circle I got this : only two “recordings” for “All recordings”.
The initial work does not appear in this panel “All recordings”!
Well, the red circle in your first screen shot tells that you have three representations of this COMPOSITION in your library.
VERSIONS is the term to describe various editions of a particular album in your library, and is displayed right of the TRACKS and CREDITS in the same screen shot, if found.
It is a bit strange why the second screen only displays two iterations of this composition, but this might be down to Roons album-centric stance on recorded music.
Please show us a screen shot of the rightmost album, whose composition is NOT represented on the Compositions view?
And likely this is down to non-identified recordings or duplicates just as the volunteer mod indicated. And the thread was closed due to marking as “Solved”.
Actually i have a similar situation with the same work:
Did you deactivate the ´View > only complete recordings´ setting? Would always recommend to do that if you search in your local library.
In many cases the underlying metadata is misleading bringing roon to not showing recordings of a composition which actually are complete (but lack the TiVo flag for complete recordings).
In this case the complete recording is not available on streaming services which might be a good reason for Tivo not to file it under complete recordings.
