MUSE DSP up sampling versus HQPlayer

Hi! I was considering purchasing HQplayer, but it’s quite expensive. But I just noticed that Roon provide DSD up sampling via MUSE.

Anyone made the comparison? Is Roon’s up sampling any good? What would I be missing out if I go with this (free) option ?

Also, is the processing done on the Roon core (I have a nucleus one) or on the PC running Roon client?

Roons is good, but, really no comparison. However, it is more than just the software investment. To run the best filters and modulators you need a fast i7 or i9 desktop cpu and an nvidia gpu graphics card.

Thanks!
I do have the gear to run it. I guess I’ll go for it and stop overthinking it!

Their dev seems super responsive too! So that’s nice!

What dac do you have?

SMSL DO400, connected to my computer via USB (ASIO)

And it is connected to the windows pc with asio drivers?

Yes, exactly

Search around the forums. Since that is using an ess chip, you should set specific modulators and filters. Since, you wont be able to bypass dac chip processing.
