· I’m logged in and told march is my anniversary. No music in my Roon application. Just some podcasts. All music is gone. Please advise. This was from a Roon server on my laptop that I’ve used for years. I will need to close my account if I can’t get back my music.
Welcome to the Roon Community — thanks for reaching out. I understand how alarming it can be to open Roon and suddenly see your music missing.
The most important thing to clarify first is this:
Roon does not store your music files.
Roon only indexes and manages music that exists on your own storage (internal drive, external drive, NAS, etc.) or from streaming services. If the files are no longer accessible at the operating system level, Roon will not be able to show them.
Please verify the actual storage on your laptop:
Check whether the drive or folder that previously contained your music is still:
Present
Mounted
Accessible outside of Roon (for example, in Finder / File Explorer)
Confirm:
The music folders are still visible and not empty
Please share a screenshot showing:
Your storage devices (disk list / drives view)
The folder where your music is supposed to live
Roon → Settings → Storage
This will help us understand whether the issue is:
A disconnected or missing drive
A path change (Roon can’t find the files anymore)
Or something happening at the OS/storage level
Podcasts are handled differently and don’t rely on your local music storage in the same way, which is why they can still appear even if your music files are currently unavailable.
Once we see the storage status, we can guide you on the next steps. Let’s start there before assuming any data loss or account-related issues.
Looking forward to your update — we’ll take this step by step.
