I have configured Roon with Aqua LinQ HQPlayer NAA and it has been working well up and until the latest update to Roon. The problem is the music freezes and it stops after playing few songs from Qobuz and it the same playing my own files.
Describe your network setup
Roon server is on a MacMini and it is connected directly to network via ethernet. So is the LinQ
Hi @Nomad_Max,
Thanks for reaching out to us to ask about this problem.
I think the next step here is to enable some diagnostics on your account so our technical staff can get some more insight into what’s going on here.
However, before I enable this feature, I’d like to ask for your help ensuring we gather the right information.
First, can you please reproduce the issue once more and note the time at which the error occurs. Then respond here with that time, and I’ll make sure we review the diagnostics related to that timestamp.
Thanks for the timestamp - do you notice the zone itself disappearing when the freezing occurs as well?
We’re seeing the following error from a recent diagnostic report:
Alert: Transport: playback_error_endpoint_lost
A few things to check:
Mac firewall - can you confirm Roon is still listed as proper exceptions across your firewall? An easy test for this would be to temporarily disable it and see if your issues still occur.
Can you please navigate to macOS System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network , and make sure Roon is allowed. If it is already enabled, toggle it off and on again. Then reboot your Mac, and see if the same issue persists.
Does this occur if you disable HQplayer? If you test playback from the system output of your Mac, do you run into any errors?
We’re seeing HQPlayer send a stop command during playback as well:
Trace: [64] [transport] [hqp/client] [192.168.1.207:4321] Disconnected: Connection reset by peer
Trace: [Broker:Transport] [hqplayer] [192.168.1.207] Disconnected
Trace: [Broker:Transport] [zone] LinQ Core received transport control from endpoint integration: deselected
This indicates that the HQPlayer endpoint (192.168.1.207) actively closed the connection, rather than Roon dropping it.
Let me know if the above helps, and if not, please let me know if you’re able to reproduce the issue outside of HQPlayer. Thank you!
I checked the Mac firewall and the exceptions are set correctly; however I noticed duplicate entries of Roon (listed twice) and RoonAppliance (listed twice). Is that normal?
Roon and Roonserver is allowed. I did the toggle off/on reboot of the Mac mini and I am running a test which started at 6:25PM PST then it stopped 6:39PM.
I test playback with system output and that works fine no freezing.
I find it strange that HQPlayer endpoint is causing the issue since there has not been any modifications or updates to LinQ since I purchased it.
Could it be a network issue? both MacMini and LinQ are wired connected to the ethernet.
Hi @benjamin it has resolved itself. I believe it must have been a network issue; my provider claims there hasn’t been any disruptions around the same timeframe i’ve had the issues…so for now it is all good and you may close the ticket. thanks for all of your help!
