Describe the issue
Music very slow to start playing, and also stops unexpectedly, as if my internet connection has stopped. But will not work if I try to use any sort of Upsampling, so I’m stuck at using cd quality from Tidal.
Describe your network setup
AURALiC Altair G2.1 and Roon Nucleus One both through 100 mbps Ethernet
Whilst 100Mbps is adequate for anything but the most exotic of high bit rate endpoints, I would not want to run a streaming server on such a network connection. At the very least, you should be aiming for 1Gbps between the router and the Nucleus One.
How fast is your internet connection? What ISP and router are you using?
Surely the router must support 1Gbps Ethernet over CAT5e, CAT6 or CAT6a cables. It has been a long time since routers supplied by ISPs only supported 100Mbps. CAT5 cables, however, only support a maximum of 100mbps so, if you are using them, they should be replaced.
Also, do you use any Ethernet switches between your router and the Nucleus One and Auralic Altair? If so are they 1Gbps capable?
The Nucleus One and the Auralic are both capable of connecting to Ethernet at 1Gbps.
@Wade_Oram makes a good point - are you able to get a 1 Gbps connection going via ethernet?
With that, we’re not seeing your Nucleus tied to your admin, could you please use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader?
