Music storage folder not displayed during Nucleus One setup (ref#IU3BWE)

I'm having trouble with my Nucleus hardware

· The Nucleus boots up and I can connect to it in the Roon app without issue, but I have a question about configuration/storage/attached devices

Describe the issue

I have my music library on an iMac. When I try to set up the Nucleus One and I get to "choose music storage folder" nothing is displayed.

You need to click on the ‘add network drive’ link seen in the screenshot above and the enter the network location and login credentials.

In addition to what @Wade_Oram said, you also need to ensure that you have set up the sharing of your music library to the network on your iMac.

Hey @Miguel_Bartoli,

Thanks for writing in, and welcome to the community! Both @Wade_Oram and @Geoff_Coupe are correct in their replies above.

Before adding anything on the Nucleus side - I’d run through the help article above and make sure you have all the proper share settings to your local music folder on the mac side. :slightly_smiling_face:

Certainly let me know if you run into any additional questions along the way as well! :+1:

Thanks everyone for trying to help. Let me start by saying I’m computer illiterate. I somehow got some tracks moved over by dragging them over from Music to Roon. I tried the above instructions but am getting an error.

You entered the path to a folder on the Mac, but you should have entered just the IP address of the Mac followed by the name of the share. A share is essentially a name under which the Mac advertises the folder (and its path) on the network. A shortcut to the folder, if you will.

See the example format:

You must first set up your Music folder on the Mac to be shared on the network. This will assign a share name to the folder, which you then use in Roon: smb://192.168.1.39/your_share_name

The details of how to do this are explained here, on the page linked previously by @Geoff_Coupe:

Hi @Miguel_Bartoli,

Network shares can be tricky to set up! If you’re still having trouble with the nomenclature or encountering any errors, please reach out here.

Be sure to enable Folder Sharing on your Mac as well.

So, two steps:

  1. First, enable File Sharing check that the Mac has permission to share these folders on the network.

  2. Next, double-check that you’ve correctly typed the network share location in Roon
