My First "FrankenRoon"

Hey all.

I’m in love with my Pi based multiroom audio setup. I also have one that I called “FrankenRoon”, which is a mobile endpoint for taking into the garden, garage etc. I made it out of an old beer carrier. I’m pretty proud of it, even though it’s a hastily thrown together box of junk!

Do any of you have anything you’ve made that you can share? I’m looking for inspiration for version2, as this is just the prototype. I was thinking about finding an old, 80s boombox and putting the bits inside!

Cheers,

Mike

I use a centre speaker from QAcoustics with a pi Ropieee and Hifiberry amp2 hat inside it hidden away in my bedroom. Added wires off the internal wiring to feed it to left channel of the amp and use Roon DSP to mono the signal. Been running for 4-5 years and it just works. In my office have a stereo set of speakers where I installed the same combo rewired the binding posts one one speaker so yo can connect it to the other speaker by a speaker cable for a neat stereo solution. Both have external power bricks that plug into an inline DC socket I drilled a hole for.
