Mytek Service Sucks

Crickets, so there is our answer.

Alleged rumor on the Audiogon site is that Mytek is no longer in business. @Mytek_Audio; is this true? We have not seen Mytek at any audio shows as of late or participating in any audio forums. What is the status of the company?

The US website appears to still be up and running and selling products.

Personally, I wouldn’t buy toilet paper from them.

Be wary of so called exit scamming where an existing “good reputation” company appears to still be selling products, but those products never materialize. With the whole Brooklyn Bridge II debacle, I would make especially sure to confirm availability before purchasing.

Sage advice. Much appreciated.

I decided to do a little digging on the internet and came across two BBB complaints from June and July that also suggest Mytek has a toe tag.

  1. “I purchased the Mytek Liberty *** ) Headphone Amplifier directly from Mytek on April 1, 2022. Within the 2-year warranty period, the device experienced a serious failure one audio channel cut off due to a crossfeed issue. I reported this issue to Mytek support on March 30, 2024, including proof of purchase and serial number.Despite repeated follow-ups, ******************** failed to issue an RMA or provide a repair solution. In an email dated August 12, 2024, Mytek said they would replace the product, but no further steps were taken. In June 2025, I decided to ship the unit from *********** to Mytek’s Brooklyn office at my own cost using EMS (Tracking: ). The package was marked “Repair / Replacement or Disposal No Return Required” and shipped on June 18. attempted delivery on June 21 but failed due to “recipient not present.” The package was held at ********************** (******************) for 15 days. Mytek was informed of the tracking and delivery status multiple times and acknowledged receipt of documents. However, they did not collect the package by the deadline. This behavior constitutes neglect and bad faith in handling warranty services.Resolution Requested: - Official recognition of warranty failure - Refund or product replacement - Public accountability to prevent recurrence Attached files have been retained and can be submitted upon request (e.g., full email threads, tracking documents, product label).”

So this individual had my experience, nearly exactly. Must be their fault I guess.

  1. “On May 27, 2025, I initiated communication with Mytek Audio to inquire about their Liberty DAC upgrade program. After verifying my eligibility, I agreed to the offer and sent a payment of $795 via Zelle, as instructed. Mytek confirmed receipt of the payment on May 28 and provided a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) for my original unit.I promptly shipped my Liberty DAC back to their designated address and provided a **** tracking number confirming delivery on Monday, June 2, 2025.Since then, I have received no further communication regarding the promised shipment of the upgraded Liberty DAC II unit. Despite multiple follow-ups, Mytek has failed to respond or provide any confirmation or timeline.Given the significant financial outlay and the surrender of my original unit, this lack of response is deeply concerning. It now appears that Mytek has failed to honor their agreement, and I have neither the product I paid for nor the equipment I returned. I suspect this may constitute a fraudulent transaction.”

Here we have Mytek not fulfilling, AND taking payments through Zelle, which is highly unusual and unsafe for the consumer. I’m so glad I got away from this business when I did. Just yikes.

I could not find this on Audiogon. Was the thread deleted?

A few days ago, Google still found the thread, but following the URL did land on a "thread deleted " page on Audiogon.

Edit: Still top of my Google results when searching for “mytek out of business audiogon”, leading to the deleted thread, https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/mytek-seemingly-out-of-business-yet-taking-customers-money-and-produc

Based on Mytek still taking 50% deposits for £/$/€25k pieces of equipment, I’m sure they aren’t out of business and will deliver :face_with_peeking_eye:

How to get rid of your money… in 3… 2… 1

Yes it was deleted, here is the original link but it is inaccessible now but you can read what the “title / topic” of the thread was in the link.

Let me add my name to the list of unfulfilled (over 3 years now) orders, and the intermittent sob story when I was actually able to get through to a real human every 6 months or so (Michal, in most cases).

Paid for the pre-order BB → BBII upgrade, received 2-3 email excuses as well as the HEM legal battle sob story, was told “very soon”, or “next shipment from Poland” or “we have one ready, let me just confirm your order and get back to you” the few times I was able to get Michal on the phone, none of which ever happened. Of course. He fooled me. I believed him, which at this point in time was obviously naïve of me.

Curious enough, there do seem to be units in HiFi retailers here and there, not sure how when he can’t seem to fulfill 3+ year old pre-orders for existing customers.

I was a @Mytek_Audio @Mytek_Official pro-audio customer before this, and was always treated well, received service when needed (in Poland with HEM), so am really shocked and disappointed in what I’ve experienced on the consumer side of things. I’m frankly surprised he’s still in business, especially considering the market segment he’s targeting. People don’t like to spend $6-10k and then get 10 months of runaround and excuses, not to mention 3 years or more.

I plan to look into options for formal complaints and other opportunities to reclaim my loss, either with the unit I paid for or a full refund. Has anyone checked to see what avenues are available?

Thanks,

Thor

I don’t know what is going on with Mytek, but in 2024 when I went to the Capital Audiofest there was Mytek gear in several rooms. So much so that I got very interested in their products. I never did pull the trigger and went in a different direction. In 2025 Mytek was either nonexistent or close to it. I don’t recall seeing any Mytek gear at Capital Audiofest last year. A lot can change in a year.

They still send out marketing emails, I got one this year around new years.

My advice, get a lawyer in case you already paid.

They may offer you a first, cheaper, step by simply sending a formal letter to Mytek. Sometimes, this increases activity pretty quickly.

Good luck

And @Mytek_Audio was last seen 5 days ago. So Michal is reading these comments. Glad I avoided Mytek and it is concerning that Mytek continues to “sell,” devices that potentially will never be delivered all the while there appears to an abundance of orders still outstanding for months and years. Shameful.
