You need to enable the digital volume in the Naim app for the streamer for Roon to see it. This is not a Roon issue. Naim disable the digital volume control for sq reasons it’s only there for Airplay certification… You however cannot use it to control your amplifier if you have a Naim preamp as system control is not supported.

Now that it says „polite only“ instead of „support only“, I could and would have done that  @Simon_Arnold3 is, of course, spot on.

Maybe to elaborate a bit, the Volume Mode option in the Naim app is only visible if you don’t enable Naim’s System Automation. If System Automation is enabled, the option disappears in the Naim app and volume is automatically set to fixed. I.e., you have to choose one or the other.

And the variable volume in the NDX2 is only done in 32 bit, as @Simon_Arnold3 says just a token implementation for Airplay certification.

Hi @Gavin_Miller,
I would try @Simon_Arnold3’s advice. Let us know if that doesn’t solve your issue.

Additionally, I would caution you against asking other members of the community not to help you. There are many knowledgeable members of the community some of whom may have even dealt with your exact issue. Asking for support responses only will just make it take longer for you to get help.

Thank you Daniel, but I have, like many users, had a bad experience with unpolite, sarcastic comments… I am afraid you need to police the community more stringently in my view!… Kind regards

I’m sorry you’ve had some negative experiences with other users in the community. Our moderators do their best to keep up with things but sometimes things slip through the cracks. Feel free to use the report button if this happens in the future.

Can I assume that @Simon_Arnold3’s advice fixed your Naim volume issues?

Many thanks for your help – Gavin Miller
