There’s an interview with Neal Stephenson in the New York Times, and they chat a bit about why people believe what they do, always an interesting speculation in audiophile circles. He brings up Charles Sanders Pierce’s essay, “The Fixation of Belief”, originally published in Popular Science Monthly in November of 1877. Both the essay and the interview are well worth reading.
