Thank you for your post. I’m afraid we’ll need more information to take action on this thread, however.
You’ve mentioned distortion during playback of local audio files in Roon. Is this a correct summary of the problem you’re experiencing? If so, please provide the name of a track that displays the issue repeatedly, or an approximate timestamp of when this problem last occurred, so that our team can track the event down in diagnostic logging.
Hi Connor
Thank you for replaying. Unfortunately it happens always. It isn’t matter of a single or few tracks. When I launch playing for a fraction of a second the system is silent then starts creaking then stops for one or more second then again is creaking, squeaking, cracking. No music at all! Is not that at first is regularly playing then starts squeaking. No it alternate silence to the squeaking, cracking etc. I can use the iPhone, my Genelec loudspeaker, my Nail Mu-so 2nd Gen wireless speaker, no way it’s always the same identical story.
Thank you helping me
Roberto
Hi @Roberto_Galbiati,
Thanks for clarifying the problem for us. I think the best way for us to proceed with troubleshooting would be for us to take a look at your logs. Can you please use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader?
Hello, after several tries we were able to send the logs named: @Roberto_Galbiati logs. The issue persists with all devices in all different zones, but randomly, indeed sometimes it works properly. When you open an album, you play the first track, when it doesn’t work, it skips to the second, it doesn’t work again, skips to third, same situation and then eventually the forth plays correctly. Randomly. Let’s hope the logs can help finding which is the issue and solving it. Thanks, Roberto
I’m afraid we need the logs from the folder named RoonServer, rather than the Roon log file you’ve just uploaded, which is specific to your MacOS machine.
The RoonServer folder will contain information from the Nucleus itself, including diagnostic logging related to audio playback and dropouts.
Please follow these instructions instead:
Using a Mac, open Finder → Go → Connect to Server and enter smb://Nucleus/Data. Use Guest as the username and password. You should then see the RoonServer database folder.
Open that RoonServer database and find the Logs folder.
Hi @Roberto_Galbiati,
Thanks for sending those in. In your Roon Tidal settings (under Roon settings (the gear icon) → Services) can you raise the streaming quality level? This helped another user with similar symptoms.
