Group endpoint devices into the zones; but also have them as separate endpoints

Standard installation
You would need to group and ungroup zones as the program is now. There is no way to accomplish what you are asking at present.
There is a feature request for “saving groups” that might be close to what you are looking for.
If the above is not what you want, you could submit your own feature suggestion.

Our product team does pay attention to posts in the Feature Suggestions section of Community so feel free to either upvote the feature suggestion @bearFNF linked or to make your own that fits what you want better.

this is not sufficient, as was mentioned for an automation purposes, such a behavior of roon is pointless.
Apparently that feature suggestion is completely ignored as it was raised YEARS ago w/out any action on that.
apparently you do not pay attention to the important functionality.
In the years of the automation/ multi zone use cases - you are not able to implement extremely simple use- case;
the whole system ie roon core is unusable with a multi-room / zone installations using modern automation approach.
So why are u ignoring that for Years?
Some things may not get attention for reasons that are not obvious.
I would not be so fast to judge the technical team - they steadily improve this application on a regular basis and I for one greatly value their work.
I have no specific knowledge of the situation here but until recently many manufacturers have not implemented the feature you desire as a result of a verdict around a SONOS patent.
