Network stops working and needs restart

All my ropieees seem to be losing network connection (via ethernet) and I need to restar them for it to work again. Network-wise I have been with the same setup for a couple years without issues, it’s recent that it has started happening. When it happens the RoPieees lose network connection and I cannot access them via the browser and don’t appear active on the router dashboard. Reseting them fixes the issue.

Am I the only one having these issues?

I suggest you look at your infrastructure, because this should not happen. And no, I’ve got plenty of units running for a looooooong time.

Are they all connected to the same switch? What is the brand and model of the switch? How many years have the switch been used?

It’s a Netgear JGS524, I have been using it for 3 years. The Ropieees were working fine, ROCK and my other devices have no issues.

Never seen anyone mention a similar problem before. My RoPieee is about as ‘setup-and-forget-about-it’ as it gets… I too would suggest you rather have a good look at your network infrastructure.

Power cycle the whole network, starting from the router (important).

I have six RoPieee devices (all Pi3B+) and they are almost 100% reliable. Very occasionally I will have to restart one due to Airplay (Shareplay?) stopping, but they have never stopped working as Roon endpoints.

Network components can go bad. Most are cheaply mass-produced, especially consumer grade kit like Netgear (all my kit is Netgear). I have had one switch go bad in 10 years. It didn’t stop working outright, just had very poor throughput, giving similar symptoms to a poor quality internet connection issue.

I would start with rebooting the router and then rechecking all connections.
