I am running an M4 Mac Mini in headless mode - That is, it uses headless hdmi dongle in the back so it can sit in my server cabinet attached via ethernet and be accessed using screen share.
This works fine for my music files that Roon accesses - One small issue was if I let the screen lock it would disconnect from all my Sonos devices - anyway enabling continuosly on fixed that,
The music files are added using autofs using nfs from my Synology NAS to mount network shares - the Mac Mini is on a static IP4 address - I use pfsense as my firewall. This is fine too, all the music is detected when I force scan.
The only issue is when I add new music I have to Force Scan the storage to detect it.
Ah ok, thanks for letting me know. I’m on day 8 of my trial and just getting to grips with teh functionality.
For non natively stored music it would be good to have an option for updating on a regular time interval. Especially if I’m not home as I can’t find the ability to Force a scan from the Arc app.
Also how does the Arc app update to see the latest music added to the server ? My Mac and iOS Roon apps can see the new music in Home, but the Arc app cannot. I pull the screen down to potentially refresh the home screen and start a progress bar moving from right to left my no update with new music the server can see,
Welcome to the community - we’re excited to have you here!
We have a dedicated area of community where you share any feedback or wanted feature suggestions - I highly suggest sharing your ideas over there so the proper team can review them! It’s our Feature Suggestions category.
Refreshing Arc should do the trick - are you over Wifi or cellular data when this happens? And, what type of content is missing specifically? If you quit Arc and reboot, do you see it then?
All working fine now thank you. I was having a few issues with the scanning slowing down and Roon becoming a bit unresponsive (tracks being skipped, a lag on moving around the Mac App) so I restarted the server and it seems to have fixed everything including refreshing the Arc app - maybe a process was locked.
I’ll add a feature suggestion to the respective category.
Hi @James_H,
We’re glad everything is in working order now. I’ll mark this thread as solved for you. It will remain open for a couple more days in case the problem returns.
