I would like to set up a second Roon server. I need a new licence for this. On the corresponding page, I am shown a link to contact support, but this does not lead to contacting support. The big button that promises that I can purchase a new licence also leads nowhere. What is the situation now? Is it possible to acquire a second licence? Or not? And if it is possible, why is this possibility so well hidden?
Are you sure you need a second license? If you plan to run two Roon servers at the same time, then yes you do. However, if you don’t plan to run them at the same time, you can switch back and forth with a single license.
Go to roonlabs.com, then…click on the little guy next to Free Trial.
This is as far as I’m going. I already have three subscriptions, don’t want a fourth.
I see. Thank you very much! That helps. However, the question remains as to why it is so well hidden…
My guess would be that is not an option that gets used often. As most people will only have a single server.
I have two servers in two houses and would like two licences so that they can be used simultaneously. When I log in to the server for which I do not (yet) have a licence, I am shown a page with a button that supposedly allows me to order an additional licence and a link that supposedly leads to support to do the same. Pressing the button takes me to my user account, where I cannot order another licence, and the link takes me to this forum, where I also cannot order a new licence. I don’t see the point of this.
Curious the use case here rather than one server accessed remotely from the second site?
Remote access to the server (other than with ARC) requires a VPN and isn’t a supported configuration. Can be tricky to set up and may or may not work.
Just go to Roonlabs.com and order the second subscription. Subscriptions are not tied to a given Roon server.
Hi @Werner_Hintze,
Thanks for reaching out to ask about this. It seems like your initial question has been answered. Are you having any issues with getting the second license?
Maybe because Roon is not really anxious to sell more lifetime subscriptions. I think they would rather sell monthly and annual subscriptions for cash flow purposes.
No. No significant issues. Apart from the fact that my question about a second licence has not yet been answered. But maybe that doesn’t have to be the case.
Hey @Werner_Hintze,
You’ll likely need to sign out of your current account in order to create a second account. That said, @Jim_F is steering you in the right direction either way!
