New Nucleus not available outside USA: Available in Canada as of October 11th 2024

Yup, you need to use a password to sign in first. By default, Windows 11 will use Windows Hello or a PIN, and the password option will not have been set up. You will also find that you won’t be able to access shared folders over the network on a Windows 11 system unless the password option has been invoked.

Exactly, I had Roon on a NUC running Plex and LMS simultaneously using Debian Linux. No need for branded hardware.

ROCK ran flawlessly on my little HP Elitedesk. Cheap cheap cheap.

You should be able to get windows for a lot less and Microsoft’s AV does a fine job so thats one (little) less to spend. I’d look for a 2nd hand unit all ready to go.

Don’t waste your money on a nucleus or titan. In a couple of years the motherboard will fail like mine did and then be told that it can’t be repaired.

I wish you hadn’t showed me that, there are several refurbished ones on Amazon UK for around £100. And now I’m tempted!

I bought this in preparation to retire an older Mac Mini. Because I wanted to use Linux I checked for reviews on it, and found a Linux site that had run tests and found it good.

It was just an experiment to try ROCK on it, and happily it worked really well. Perfectly in fact, so I carried on with it.

I’ve moved away from the Roon platform these days, but if I return that’s what I’ll use.

Yep, I hear you. My Nucleus+ recently died and I need to move quickly. I took the gamble and bought a Asus 13 i5 to use as a core. The setup was straight forward and everything works fine. The added bonus is that the sound quality is so much better now than with the NUC7i7 that’s in the Nucleus+. And not by a small margin. I fully expected one NUC to sound like another, but they obviously don’t ! It’s nice to have a win sometimes.
