· The Nucleus boots up and I can connect to it in the Roon app without issue, but I have a question about configuration/storage/attached devices
Describe the issue
New to Roon. Brand new Nucleus One and the app are both working great, library copied to internal SATA SSD, etc. I have McIntosh C2700 preamp with DA2 module installed connected with AudioQuest USB cable to USB port on Nucleus, but USB port does not appear as available output device in the app Audio admin settings. HDMI appears as available output, even with nothing connected. All network/Roon Ready/Roon Tested devices appear as available outputs, but no USB. I tried restarting the Nucleus with C2700 connected and powered on with USB input selected, yet still no USB output available,
Regrettably, the C2700 USB is not supported on Linux systems, as a compatible driver does not exist—this is also noted in the device’s official manual.
Please let us know if we can help you find an alternative setup or provide further assistance.
Thanks for the response. Despite many posts claiming this setup should not work and has not worked for some people; one AI generated search result suggested the C2700 was Roon tested, or possibly even Roon Ready, and inspired me to keep trying.
My new Roon Nucleus One now plays my digital library beautifully, directly through my McIntosh C2700 USB Input. Note that my C2700 has the DA2 Module installed. Following are the simple steps I followed:
Connect Roon Nucleus One USB-A port to McIntosh C2700 USB-B port (in the installed DA2 Module) using AudioQuest USB A-B cable
Power on C2700
Navigate to Settings/Inputs, turn ‘ON’ USB Input (I renamed mine Roon Servr)
Select USB Input on C2700
Restart Roon Nucleus using Web Interface or power button on rear panel
Open Roon app on networked PC
Navigate to Settings/Audio
Find ‘McIntosh’ device shown under ‘Devices connected to Roon server’ and click Enable.
Play the digital music in your library like never before.
I have a McIntosh DS200 on order, which also has the DA2 Module installed. I plan to connect Nucleus One to the DS200 instead of C2700 when the DAC Streamer arrives, hoping to move volume control functionality to the Roon remote app. The only downside to my current C2700/Nucleus USB setup is the volume control is fixed inside the Roon app and can be changed only using the C2700 volume control. The DS200 Streaming DAC has variable volume output mode, which I’m hoping works with the Roon app since the device is Roon Ready.
Glad to hear you’ve been able to get some playback started! Are you still having issues? If so, feel free to mark your above response as a solution. Happy listening!
