"New Releases for You" performance?

I have fiber and my Qobuz page in Roon loads almost instantly. That said my “New Releases for You” takes a few seconds to load.

Now I assume it’s related to the size of my library, 11000+ albums and 150,000 or so tracks. Is it more performant for others with a smaller library?

My library is currently running to ~1,300 albums, and it’s currently taking 2–3 seconds to load, so nothing to do with your library size I’d say.

Thanks. That’s slightly encouraging and hopefully something Roon can optimize someday.

Not sure if a ticket or a feature request would get them to look into optimizing it or not…

It doesn’t usually have a delay, so let’s see if others have similar experiences. If they do, we can move this to Support.

Within the home screen:

  • The top section (my user name + the 4 grey boxes with library stats + “Recent Activity” blue box) loads immediately
  • The rest of the home page (“New Releases For You” and all below that) takes several seconds to load

This has been the case for me for as long as I remember.

Only have around 750 albums.

Yah, it’s never been fast for me but I only really started using roon again about a year ago after a long hiatus.

Same here.
2300 albums, 28k tracks

Sometimes it’s faster/slower than other times.

Same behaviour here. 7200 albums, 101k tracks. All local.

Recent Activity loads immediately.

New Releases takes 4-5 seconds to load. Every time.

In the logs I can see there are 5 requests to api.roonlabs.net which take 300-500 ms each and one the takes 2200 ms.

The wait time comes from api.roonlabs.net.

Finding/buying new music back then seemed more special. Now, no effort required.

Always been slow on bad cloud days it’s slower. All their cloud services have some form of delay and are very susceptible to load and location.

It seems that this section is updated every time you start the control app or navigate to home.

Maybe Roon should cache this, so there’s no delay, and push / pull updates at other times. A remnant of always online?

I didn’t have any streaming services for a few months, which is likely why I forgot about delay.

Must be a bad Roon cloud day, New Releases for You won’t load for me today. Just the roon busy symbol.

I had slow load times for several days. Today it’s rather fast.
Noticed the red line under albums/singles is stuck under albums and doesn’t change position when I switch between them. Perhaps roon made some changes in the New Releases for You page recently?
