New Releases on Qobuz Often Delayed

285

Many new releases on Qobuz take several days to appear on Roon. Complaints are repeated, to no avail. It’s a disgrace. Other platforms, including Tidal, no longer have this problem. Enough is enough! Roon needs to address the updates and resolve this issue with Qobuz. PLEASE!

Thinking over the box…

Thanks, Mark, for explaining the problem rather than sighing about those who ask the question.

How many times do we need to repeat the same message?

Roon receives updates from Qobuz daily. However, if Qobuz doesn’t add the new release ahead of its release date or on the day, a short delay is likely. This is outside Roon’s control.

For example, Foreign Tongues by The Rolling Stones was released yesterday, and was available in Roon yesterday morning for TIDAL subscribers. Unfortunately, Qobuz did not provide the release in their update, so it wasn’t in Roon.

Nonetheless, by simply adding it to your Qobuz favourites, will add it to Roons

This issue has been explained on the forum about 500? times over many years. I see how it can be frustrating. I just kind of shake my head when I see it brought up again, which at times seems to be weekly.

I’m guessing a lot of times it’s new or infrequent forum users who don’t know about it.

Here’s a thought;
When I have an issue with Roon, I usually use the forum search to see if the problem has already been addressed. I never assume that I have discovered a new problem because it’s seldom the case.

You’re correct as Roon relies on updates from Qobuz.

There is a workaround for Roon to adopt, perhaps. If Qobuz allowed, Roon could do a manual fetch of weekly new releases with basic metadata. This is how LMS operates with the Qobuz Plugin all the time.

Then, when Qobuz sends the updates they can do the metadata enrichment.

How many times do we have to repeat the same complaints before a solution is found to a problem that everyone knows about?..

Off-screen. Don’t understand those who are hindering progress. Lack open-mindedness towards a new solution.

A solution would be great for the people who won’t wait a day or so for a new release to appear in Roon as happens with some albums.

But so far, even after years of it being brought up, here we are. Maybe one more thread on the subject will cause a solution to be found. I’ll keep an eye out for one.

Roon uses a completely different feed to that used by Lyrion etc. The issue is that Qobuz is tardy. TIDAL less so.

The solution is that Qobuz need to do better, so maybe it would be more useful to lobby them rather than repeat the same message here.

Favoriting this file since yesterday am has not resulted in the album appearing in my Roon library. I understand this issue is a Qobuz problem, but surely Roon has a way to bring Q in line with T.

Who is better placed than Roon to put pressure on Qobuz?..

Ya, maybe Roon could threaten to drop Qobuz if they don’t shape up.

Has Roon ever contacted Qobuz about the issue? If not, it would a place to start. Qobuz might not even know that there is a problem.

If Qobuz actually replies that it’s too difficult for them, then we’ll grumble and try to accept it.

Does anyone know what levers to pull to get Roon to seriously address the problem and take action?

There are no levers. It’s been raised on this thread and numerous threads before. Unless Qobuz pre-populate their metadata then this will keep happening. You might not like it but that, I’m afraid, is the state of affairs.

Discussions on the Qobuz Club about this topic, since 2023:

New releases available on Roon with a delay

As a subscriber of Qobuz and Tidal for a little over a year I have settled with Qobuz as I found no draw towards Tidal’s MQA and their constant push for me to listen to the latest rap and hip hop tunes despite Tidal knowing my listening prefs. Overall - enjoying Qobuz!

I’ve noticed that there is always a delay in new releases appearing in Roon days after it first appears in Qobuz. Oddly if you know the release is available and you search for it via Roon it appears and I’m not sure if it was coincidental but sometimes the new release then immediately appears in the artist’s discography.

Not sure if this a limitation on Roon’s tech side or if there’s something the Qobuz tech team could help Roon with?

Most new releases are accessible on Roon simultaneously with their availability on Qobuz and/or Tidal. A delay typically occurs when the streaming services haven’t furnished the databases in advance for a specific release.

I will also scan the Qobuz app for music but I will click the heart icon when I see an album that catches my interest, then I will move over to roon and will click Focus under albums then select Qobus under Storage Locations and will add a tag so the albums don’t end up in a sea of music and forgotten about.

I am hearing it has something to do with music streaming services not importing to Roon accordingly. Roon has certain rules in place and streaming doesn’t follow it as well.

I share your frustration, Friday mornings I open Qobuz on my laptop to see new releases and then have to manually look them up in Roon.

Considering that nothing is changing despite the numerous posts from the community on this subject:

Does anyone know who in the community has the ear of the decision-makers at Roon?

This is a Feedback thread. It will be read by decision makers at Roon. But nothing will change unless Qobuz pre-populates metadata for all new releases. Roon decision makers are fully aware of the issue.

I have to wonder just what percentage of Roon users consider this to be a high priority issue, or even an issue at all. 1%? 10%? 50? I know I don’t. Maybe I’m in the minority? Hard to judge that just by the number of people that bring it up, or don’t.

Sure, it would be nice to resolve this for any who do need to listen to a new release, the day of release, through their Roon app. Hope something works out for them, but if it hasn’t changed by now I’m not holding my breath.

BTW, I wasn’t that impressed with the new Stones album, even hearing it the same day of release. Maybe the Qobuz subscribers should switch to Tidal. (I use both)
