I highly recommend using dbpoweramp to rip your CD’s. You check and correct metadata issues before ripping. I’ve personally ripped over 10,000 CD’s this way.
Thanks Robbie , Others have highly recommended Dbpoweramp though it’s a complete mystery to me I’m sure you and others would know .
I have little technical abilities I’m coming from a cd transport and separate dac to my first music server in 2017 an Innous zenith mk2 where ripping CDs to my Roon library was a complete no brainer , insert the cd and presto done .
The new music server I just bought doesn’t work that way at all I need to use software like Dbpoweramp in order for it to be recorded onto the servers SSD , no problem I’ll learn how though my question was why some music servers will rip a cd automatically .Thanks
Once you get dbpoweramp setup the way you want, it will be that easy. I bit of a learning curve on the front end (but less than EAC). And the dbpa forum folks are very helpful.
99% of the options you don’t need to change. Just pick the codec you are ripping to (FLAC) and any DSP options (I use only ReplayGain to add ReplayGain tags), tick the items you want written to your tags (artist, album, genre, composer, etc.), set how you want album art (embedded, folder.jpg or cover.jpg and size max), and setup naming string for directories/files.
Sounds like more work than it is. But once set, you just insert CD, click “rip” and you’re done.
Thanks Gary, For me I prefer owning my music I have a couple thousand CDs I’ll never sell .
You still haven’t told us what your “new server” is, so we’re in the dark as much as you are. You did say that you had heard back from the manufacturer and that he was giving you step by step troubleshooting instructions to resolve the issue.
Who is the manufacturer, and did his instructions resolve the issue?
All we know is that the manufacturer is using a version of Microsoft Windows. It may well be that he has included a CD ripper application on the server, so that you don’t need to purchase and install dBpoweramp to do this.
Without more information there is little we can do to help.
He did say what it was
All of it isn’t shown in this photo , it’s has three out board power supplies two for the server one for the clock and the clock is outboard also . For quiet noise floor it smokes the Innuos Zenith .
Ah, OK, thanks - missed that. The product page doesn’t seem to have any links to a manual. I see that everything but the kitchen sink seems to have been thrown in: Roon, HQplayer, Audirvana, JRiver, JPlay, Diretta host plus a Windows 10 OS with Fidelizer Pro and MinorityClean.
JRiver has a CD ripping function, so presumably that could be used if @S_Mark_Sime doesn’t mind setting up JRiver alongside Roon…
I see , this cd application you mentioned I don’t believe was installed for whatever reason when I inserted a cd what appeared in my Roon library was marked Micro soft applications for Lps as shown in the photos above , strange .
Currently I’m using my iPad to manage the server streaming Qobuz and Tidal I do have a Samsung oled screen that is a AfterDark option to manage the server though the tablet has a problem I have to send it back for a replacement.
I apologize for off topic non Roon subject.
