Have cancelled Spotify, and signed up to Qobuz and Roon. I imported huge amount of playlists to Qobuz from Spotify.
I have linked Roon & Qobuz. I want to start buying digital tracks storing in Roon playlist which has Qobuz playlist within as well.
So… I have copied Qobuz playlist to Roon Playlist. I have added the song I just bought from Bandcamp to Roon Playlist… Voila. It’s all good. BUT
If I delete a Qobuz song in the new Roon Playlist, how do I get that song to also delete from the original Qobuz playlist? I use my playlist for work and they go for about 7 hours. Curated vibes. So if I just use the Qobuz app I would like it to be the same as the Roon playlist where I’ll mostly use.
Can Qobuz play the song I’ve bought and stored in Roon?
Hiya. Thanks for the reply, but I have already created a playlist in Roon, and I have already imported playlists from Spotify to Qobuz via TunemyMusic, and have imported/copied playlists from Qobuz into Roon.
My question is… “If I delete a Qobuz song in the new Roon Playlist, how do I get that song to also delete from the original Qobuz playlist?”
Also
I now have 2 x playlists. One is Qobuz original, and the second is the new Roon one with a song I’ve bought, plus the Qobuz playlist.
I suppose I’ll always have 2 x playlist. One in Roon, and one is the Qobuz playlist playing in Roon. They have the same name. Except the Qobuz obviously has the little Qobuz icon. I’m trying to answer the above question.
You can’t modify an original Qobuz playlist.
However, you can create a copy in Roon, give it a different name to distinguish it, and then delete and add to it as you wish.
I think Luke has done this, see the last paragraph of his previous post. The problem is you then end up with two playlists one of which no longer sync back with Qobuz.
The short answer is you can’t currently do what he’s hoping.
Once you make your Qobuz playlist into a hybrid Roon one - that you can add local Bandcamp tracks to - there is no longer functionality in Roon to sync that playlist back with Qobuz [1]
In a parallel product I could imagine a right click option that allowed you to keep any playlist in sync (as far as possible; ie. attempt-to-sync-match-all, sync-just-qobuz-tracks) with Qobuz, much like how the playlist improver works. By default this would be enabled on any playlist originating in Qobuz and could be enabled for any native Roon playlist - in which case a copy of the playlist (as far as possible) would be created in Qobuz. With this parallel functionality the Qobuz playlist folder would simply be a filter on any playlist in Roon that sync was enabled for. But this isn’t the product we currently have….!
I’ve long thought that Roon needs to build better syncing, import and share tools, along the lines of Soundiz / TuneMyMusic natively into the Roon product itself. For one the ability to quickly import a Spotify playlist in Roon via a URL would be game changer - for good or bad - Spotify is effectively the default playlist interchange format today.
But I know others will argue that because that functionality already exists in 3rd party products there’s no point in Roon implementing it natively and development would distract from other features, which is a fair point - we all have different priorities and usage of Roon, and Roon has a priority to focus on functionality that keeps the subscriber base growing.
